Job Description

The LCRA River Operations Center is currently looking for a hydrologist to support our flood and water supply operations. Come join our team! We are located in the Redbud Center in Austin, TX. Working with our team of hydrologists and engineers, you'll be directly involved in the day-to-day operations of the Highland Lakes and Dams. This position will use your education and experience in the stewardship of the water resources of the Lower Colorado River. You will be trusted to:

  • Conduct hydrological data analysis and reporting.
  • Operate the daily river operations model, determining the minimum release of water required from the Highland Lakes.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic studies relative to regulation of stream flow.
  • Interact with partner agencies and the general public.
  • Provide support for flood operations.


You qualify with:

  • Four or more years of experience in hydrology, such as performing equipment installation/maintenance, hydrologic data collection and hydrologic analysis or relevant experience.
  • A degree(s) in hydrology, water resources, electronics, engineering or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
  • Driver's license
