Job Description

LCRA is looking for an electrical engineer to join our plant operations team! As a part of LCRA's NERC compliance group, your expertise will contribute to keeping our generation facilities in line with national and state requirements. You will use your knowledge of electrical system modelling such as ETAP and Matlab to perform load flow and Arc Flash Calculations. A firm foundation in protective relay settings is a plus as you provide support to plants and lead compliance testing such as generator reactive capability or AVR/PSS functionality. You will be trusted to:

  • Conducts and takes full responsibility for sophisticated engineering studies which require advanced knowledge within the assigned subject area. Performs field analysis, performance tests, designs, costs estimates, layout of drafting work, and the correlation/compilation of sophisticated data
  • Plans and design engineering projects with sophisticated features. Performs engineering and design work. Conducts field analysis, inspections and performance tests. Records, compiles, and reports information. Develops testing plans. Interprets engineering specifications.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and manufacturers specifications for field personnel. Coordinates and reviews the work of Engineering Associates to the extent of assuming professional responsibility for the work. Personally affixes seal or communicates necessary changes to the responsible engineer for correction
  • May provide leadership for major or sophisticated engineering and construction projects and or studies. May be the resident specialist in a particular field or operations area.

You qualify with:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus four or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.
  • Driver's license

  • Ideal candidate will have experience using ETAP software. Familiarity with Protective Relay systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of ERCOT Protocols & Nodal Operating Guides and NERC Standards is preferred.
