Description

The Systems Database Administrator performs programming services for establishments or outside organizations who may contract for services.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the upkeep and maintenance of all required maintenance data and associated records within the database.
  • Ensures all baseline changes and modifications are up-to-date. Identifies database deficiencies and submits Baseline Trouble Reports to Baseline Manager.
  • Tracks, coordinates and submits company network access requests within the NALCOMIS Database System. Gives accesses as required for individual employees.
  • Identifies user problems and submits trouble reports via SMTS or to SPAWARSYSCEN per OMA-SAM and TYCOM directives.
  • Provides formal and informal training to maintenance personnel on NALCOMIS OOMA operations.
  • Ensures the accurate collection, verification processing and sorting or all maintenance raw data in the relational database management system.
  • Develops queries, reports and programs to maintain the database and to provide management with any special analytical reports needed relating to aircraft conditions, utilization, maintenance workload, manpower utilization, and failure trends.
  • Coordinates and schedules all necessary system non-availability periods and oversees all data transfer requirements.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of NALCOMIS OOMA System and Database Administrator's guide, Navy aircraft, engine and equipment logbooks, maintenance records, applicable maintenance / technical manuals, publications and forms.
  • All other duties IAW COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series and the contract. Performs other reasonably related incidental duties when directed within the job classification.
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, yearly reports as assigned.
  • Processes readiness documents, administer the aircraft configuration status accounting program and verify aircraft utilization reports.
  • Provides technical assistance, guidance and instruction as required.
  • Perform data processing, data entry and administrative support in the following systems:
  • NALCOMIS Optimized Organizational Maintenance Activity (OOMA)
  • NALCOMIS Organizational Maintenance Activity (OMA)
  • F/A-18 Automated Maintenance Environment (FAME)
  • Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS)
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work center as required.
  • Presents a courteous and professional demeanor when dealing with customers and co-workers.
  • Complies with Foreign Object Damage (FOD), Hazardous Waste Program, and Tool Control Programs.
  • Complies with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facility and job assignment.
  • Perform additional duties as set forth by the VE Administrator.

Other or Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other job related duties as may be assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience managing backup solutions (Tape/Disk, etc.)
  • Ability to meet required scheduling deadlines and maintain necessary work flow.
  • Prepare Contract Data Requirement List Reports pertaining to job assignment.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge in computer operation and keypunch skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • Must be able to type a minimum of thirty-five (35) words per minute.
  • Must be able to read, write, understand, and communicate the English language and follow verbal and written instruction.

Experience & Education:

  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Must have two (4) years of experience as a NALCOMIS OOMA database and/or system administrator.
  • Must have been actively working as a NALCOMIS OOMA database and or system administrator within the last 4 years
  • Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) , F02A, F03A or Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 6049 (strongly preferred)
  • Must have either NALCOMIS Aviation Maintenance Data Base Pipeline (C-555-00216), or NALCOMIS Aviation Maintenance System Administrator/Analyst Optimize course (C-555-2018), SAs who have not performed SA duties for longer than 24 months must attend the NALCOMIS OOMA System and Database Administration Guide course (Course C-555-0049) and NALCOMIS System Refresher course (C-555-0055).
  • Satisfactory completion of U.S. Armed Forces Logs and Records courses or other schools with equivalent curriculum or two (2) years of aviation clerical experience in maintaining aircraft logbooks and associated records.
  • Graduation from high school or GED required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment:

  • Ability to work under pressure and continuously meet deadlines.
  • Works in a normal office in a hanger environment.
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environment.

Travel:

  • May be required to travel around base to different squadron locations to provide support.
  • May require travel in support of detachments of unknown duration and location.
