Job Summary

Join UT Southwestern as a Clery Coordinator / Crime Analyst in the University Police Department. The Clery Coordinator is responsible for criminal analysis and crime statistics.

Reporting to the Criminal Investigations Lieutenant, the Clery Coordinator/Crime Analyst works collaboratively with various offices of the University to ensure the institution's compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and associated regulations. The position also organizes, analyzes and compiles police department data, and produces reports submitted to the Chief of Police, Command Staff and Officers, UT System Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Department of Education.

Required Experience and Education

Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, or related field and one year of related experience.

Degree can be replaced by documented successful study in the aforementioned fields plus law enforcement experience, or any other relevant combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience complying with the requirements of the Clery Act
  • Advanced Clery Act Training
  • Familiarization with Title IX
  • Three years or more of work experience with an institution of Higher Education Experience with policy management software
Job Duties
  • Serves as the institution's designated "Campus Safety Survey Administrator" as that term is explained in the Department of Education correspondence
  • Coordinates the institution's Clery Act Compliance program
  • Prepares and publishes the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report
  • Ensures notices announcing the availability of the Annual Security and Fire Safety report are properly developed and available to prospective students and employees
  • In conjunction with applicable offices, develops and implements Clery Act required policies, programs and activities
  • Gathers crime and disciplinary referral data from various internal and external sources, such as the Office of Student and Alumni Affairs and law enforcement agencies
  • Works with the appropriate University Department to identify and train all Campus Security Authorities for the institution and maintains a list of them for each academic year
  • Sends annual request for crime statistics to all Campus Security Authorities at the end of each calendar year
  • Consolidates relevant data from these sources with information and policies from across institutional departments.
  • Coordinates with appropriate campus departments to ensure compliance with HEA Fire Safety regulations.
  • Collaborates with various departments ensures compliance with "Emergency Notification" requirements of the Clery Act.
  • Collaborates with Emergency Management to ensure that at least one test is completed each year that includes all required components to meet the HEOA definition of a test
  • Trains key institutional stakeholders on Clery Act requirements
  • Ensures the institution maintains accurate records on security awareness and crime prevention programs and presentations
  • Coordinates with Real Estate and Facilities to maintain an accurate listing of buildings and properties owned and/or controlled by the institution
  • Ensures compliance with the daily crime and fire log requirements
  • Serves as the Records Custodian for all Clery Act associated records
  • Works with Student Health and Wellness to gather statistical data related to crimes disclosed to those offices
  • Works with the office of Student and Alumni Affairs and/or Human Resources to ensure compliance with Drug Free Schools and Safe Campuses regulations.
  • Stays abreast of pending and final changes to the Clery Act and other laws or regulations affecting Clery Act provisions
  • Works with various institutional officers to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Sexual Assault Victim's Bill of Rights
  • Submits annual crime statistics to the Department of Education, as required
  • Assist the Department in meeting objectives by monitoring and evaluating crime patterns and trends
  • Maintain data files and tables in computerized systems.
  • Create spreadsheets, reports, databases, maps, and automated files for information management functions and distribution to all levels of the Department
  • Prepare comprehensive analytical products, such as crime bulletins, summary reports, charts, graphs, tables, and maps, and provide Department employees with objective analyses to assist in problemsolving and sector deployment
  • Respond to requests for crime information from other law enforcement organizations, and communicate courteously and effectively with all parties
  • Respond to requests for crime information from command level personnel for purposes regarding special projects, presentations, and to provide strategic insight
  • Establish and maintain professional contacts; act as liaison with other agencies, departments, and citizens; and work with other law enforcement agencies to compile and exchange information about similar crimes and mutual suspects.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding investigations and police operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
