Job Description

Primary Purpose


Supports the environmental project managers with accomplishing various tasks related to obtaining environmental permits and approvals, ensuring compliance with permit conditions and regulations for multiple projects. This position will be responsible for supporting the environmental project managers with third-party consultants, agency communications, budgets, and deliverables. This position will require effective communication between various business units and serve as a team player.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the permitting manager with regulatory agency submittals including applications, data requests, and progress reports during project development and construction including creation of technical documents and providing QA/QC review. Maintains the development of project schedules/permitting plans.
  • Maintains current knowledge of pertinent local, state, and federal environmental policies and regulations. Interfaces with internal and external stakeholders/consultants and Federal, state and local permitting agencies. Assists with the development and execution of permits and/or strategy including scoping meetings, pre-application meetings, field visits, and environmental inspections.
  • Supports the environmental mangers with managing cost tracking for all third-party consultant's invoices; maintaining expenditure balances for assigned projects. Provides oversight with third-party consultant's field work efforts (e.g., wetland delineation & cultural resource surveys) and supports developing scope of work for request for proposals (RFPs).
  • Provides environmental representation, training, and support to other departments and stakeholders in the company.
  • Communicates and collaborates with other Permitting and Regulatory team members to ensure consistency in project execution.
  • Develops and maintains environmental compliance matrices for assigned projects and update environmental compliance tracking software.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physical or biological science, engineering, or related subjects
  • 3+ years of related professional Experience in project and or technical work in a strong team-oriented environment; familiar with environmental and regulatory permitting with local, state, and federal government agencies required to develop, construct, and operate energy projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong knowledge and skills in all Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.) as well as Adobe, Google Earth and or GIS
  • Strong ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the FERC permitting, and construction process is preferred but not required.

HYBRID: Work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 2-3 days per week.
