Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the operations of patient care services by performing and managing the following duties of the nursing staff. The RN Manager provides general medical care and treatment to clinic patients under the direction of a physician.

  • Maintain and possess a current State Registered Nursing license.
  • Selects, schedules, assigns and evaluates nursing staff, adjusting hours and shifts as necessary.
  • Supervises, disciplines and ensures ongoing clinical and professional proficiency of nursing staff.
  • Ensures compliance with all clinical protocols.
  • Conducts orientation of new nursing staff and assures that training and education needs of the staff are met.
  • Coordinates patient care activities and the work assignments of staff members.
  • Evaluates activities of the nursing staff to ensure quality patient care, good staff relations and efficiency of service.
  • Performs antenatal testing and reports all results to physicians as well as documenting all findings in patient's medical record.
  • Assists the physicians with prenatal visits and exams.
  • Assists the physician with procedures, and properly labels and send specimens to appropriate labs.
  • Schedules patient's with the operating room, labor and delivery or the antenatal unit as directed by the physician.
  • Provides telephone triage and properly documents all patient, physician and other contacts.
  • Performs venipuncture and medication administration as necessary using universal precautions and documenting appropriately in the patient's medical record (i.e. time, amount, route of administration, site of administration, and any patient reaction).
  • Participates in revenue cycle by ensuring authorizations and referrals are in place and notifying the Billing Associate of needs for further authorizations.
  • Documents correct CPT and ICD-9 codes for services provided.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Recognizes ethical, legal and professional issues inherent in providing care to pregnant women receiving care in the perinatal center.
  • Communicates effectively and courteously with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and their families.
  • Treats all patients and their families with dignity and respect.
  • Acts in a non-directive, non-judgmental manner recognizing an individual's religious, ethical, and moral opinion/belief.
  • Uses standards of patient satisfaction as one measurement of effectiveness.
  • Oversees the adherence to OSHA, CLIA, and HIPAA guidelines, conducts periodic training, and performs regular audits.
  • Understands and enforces department/corporate policies.
  • Participates in appropriate department and organization committees.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of patient care guidelines and protocols.
  • Ensure proper recall systems are in place and utilized to ensure highest quality patient care.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.


Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing
  • Maintains and possesses a state RN License
  • Must maintain CPR certification
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Nursing. Office based practice experience preferred
  • Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
