Salary Range: Up to $70,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.

Hours: 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions

Function: To assist in the planning, direction, and communication of technical projects for the Data Analytics Center in the Alvarez College of Business. Performs range of duties requiring special qualifications and advanced technical acumen.

Scope: Responsible for assisting with the training, management, planning, design, implementation, and performance of the Data Analytics Center.

Duties

Typical:

Duties and responsibilities are listed below, but are not limited to:
  1. Performs leadership duties to include assisting in the preparation of specifications and the development of techniques; leads teams in development activities.
  2. Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of development; establishes development practices (DevOps) and oversees management of development team.
  3. Authority on full-stack development processes, standards, and practices.
  4. Manages the creation, setup, operation, refinement, and maintenance of analytical instruments and tools.
  5. Develops and/or implements analytic processes that use statistical or mathematical processes to generate descriptive/predictive statistics and develop statistical/ML models.
  6. Oversees the supervision and training of student employees, interns, and volunteers; oversees staff using established procedures; and leads research teams in advanced multi-year research activities.
  7. Communicates complex technical aspects of DAC processes to customers and stakeholders in a consumable manner.
  8. Plans, schedules, and coordinates detailed phases of research projects including working with the team to devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Periodic:
  1. Assist in the preparation of progress reports and presentations.
  2. Assess center needs for development projects and establish multiple hardware acquisition and implementation plans aligned with funding opportunities.
  3. Coordinate with systems support staff (Academic Computing and UTS).

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university.
  • 5 years of experience in data management, processing, analysis, or software development (full-stack). Experience establishing and communicating strategic plans for both hardware infrastructure and software development roadmaps.
  • Edge computing development.
  • Web Stack development
  • Mixed OS development (Windows and Linux based system interoperability).
  • Flexible and organized. Able to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple ongoing programs and activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Edge computing development with ML inferencing, leveraging Coral TPUs.
  • Flask, Streamlit, FastAPI and React development.
  • Secure SSL web app communication leveraging nginx, gunicorn, and tornado.
  • Github team management.
  • Mixed OS development (Windows and Linux based system interoperability).

Working Conditions
  • Standard office conditions.

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

Expected end date for this position is two years from date of hire, but renewable based on departmental needs, funding, and performance.
