GENERAL SUMMARY

Performs work in a centralized operations environment, with limited supervision and following established policies and department procedures. Provides back-office support associated with the following areas: Inclearing Check Signatures, Automatic Clearing House (ACH) items, Item Verification, Return Deposited Items, Exception Items, Nonpost Item Processing, Business Mobile Deposit Processing, Stop Payments, Late Claims for Chargebacks, and Remote Deposit Capture (RDC).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assists supervisor and/or manager in providing guidance to the Transaction Processing unit and works with the business unit and assists branches in regards transaction processing decisions.
  • Reviews daily inclearing items, exception items, ACH items, and signatures, including multiple signature items, for irregularities, validates to Bank records and makes decisions on items for payment or for further review and validation.
  • Validates accounts for Incoming EARNs Notifications.
  • Reviews Business Mobile Deposit and Remote Deposit Capture images for accuracy and negotiability.
  • Processes foreign and Canadian collection items.
  • Processes pouch activity for the Hong Kong Branch or Representative Office.
  • Assists with researching and responding to check and ACH related inquiries from branches, departments, and management.
  • Interfaces with external item processor regarding check transaction, scanning, statement rendering or other related item processing issues and with FRB and external check processor for check processing issues.
  • Performs processing, validations and/or distribution for Change of Address, Return Deposit Items, Return and Hold mail, VOD requests and other functions.
  • Processes check adjustments.
  • Balances end-of-day transactions.
  • Works variable hours, which may be adjusted weekly as required.
  • Accepts other duties as deemed necessary by the supervisor or manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: High school graduate. Some college preferred but not mandatory. Continuing education, including courses and seminars pertaining to check clearing processes and banking regulations preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of three to five years of experience with processing Inclearing Exception Items in a financial institution.
  • Skills/Ability: Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and time management skills. Ability to recognize irregular or suspicious transactions when reviewing items for processing. Good math skills. Thorough knowledge of state and Federal regulations pertaining to processing and returns of check and ACH items. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. General knowledge of various computer software applications, including Word, Excel, and basic MS office. PC literate and 10-key by touch.

OTHER DETAILS

$25.50 - $33.65 / hour
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
