The Role:
As a Resource Center Engineer 3, you will play a pivotal role in the design, engineering, planning, and coordination of system improvement and replacement projects within the distribution and transmission systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring all installations are completed on time and within budget.
- Providing project management for a variety of projects, coordinating with other engineers and departments to ensure seamless service and compliance with safety and engineering standards.
- Overseeing the design engineering, planning, coordination, and monitoring of large construction projects, ensuring safe and efficient operational procedures.
- Maintaining continuous communication with local and state regulatory agencies, contractors, and stakeholders to protect the company's interests and coordinate construction activities.
- Reviewing and approving construction drawings to ensure adherence to engineering standards, optimizing resource usage in collaboration with office and field personnel.
- Conducting cost analyses to determine the most cost-effective installation practices and planning crew and equipment resources accordingly.
- Demonstrating strong leadership and decision-making skills, providing coaching and development opportunities for team members, and fostering a culture of safe work practices.
- Participating as a subject matter expert in external audits, compliance activities, and investigations of system damage.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, or gas preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is highly desired.
- Over 7 years of experience in construction-related work or utility construction/installation, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven leadership experience, managing direct reports, outside consultants, and contractors to coordinate multiple functions and complete projects effectively.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to organize multiple tasks, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines.
- Extensive knowledge of federal pipeline safety rules, American Public Works Association standards, construction standards, and OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with employees, government representatives, and contractor personnel on technical matters.
- Ability to analyze budget reports, develop new construction approaches and procedures, and visit/access construction sites as required.
- Valid Oregon or Washington driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
