The Employee Relations teams promotes, safeguards and advocates for Blue Origin's positive direct relationship with all employees. As Director of Employee Relations, you'll lead a team that supports positive employee engagement by providing guidance and recommendations to respond to and resolve employee concerns. You'll act as a trusted adviser to the business units, legal, and HR stakeholders to define and execute on the organization's strategy for positive employee relations. In addition to actively managing day-to-day employee relations cases, this role will contribute to the implementation of proactive, ongoing review of best practices for responding to employee relations concerns.

Periodic travel to other Blue Origin sites expected.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead procedure, strategy, and provide escalation support for investigative issues regarding workplace issues such as employee complaints, discrimination, and harassment.
  • Lead root cause analysis, assessment and implementation of policy and procedure changes that drive support of critical operations while encouraging dedication to safety and inclusivity.
  • Leverage analytics and reporting to identify and track trends and provide recommendations to HR Business Partners and other teams to proactively address issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and industry best practice guidance to a team of specialists regarding Human Resources policies, procedures, and programs, as well as federal and state labor laws.
  • Counsel and provide direction to managers and employees in all areas of employee relations administration.
  • Recognize the critical elements of problems, develop and evaluate data, determine solutions and make sound recommendations. Shape and support programs that promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
  • Determine areas where proactive training and education are needed, and work with learning and development partners to develop and implement.
  • Assist with conflict resolution including facilitating and/or mediating difficult conversations with leaders.
  • Build strategies to strategically manage third party relationships to ensure the business has maximum flexibility to operate and deliver against business needs.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of human resources experience to include leading the research and resolution of employee relations issues, proactive employee engagement strategies and managing highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experience as an HR people leader with a mid to large sized client group and working with business leader partners.
  • Experience providing direction to employees, managers, leaders, and HR colleagues regarding policies, procedures, and programs as well as federal and state labor laws.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence at all levels within the organization and make decisions while keeping partners and leaders informed.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and maintain poise in stressful and/or sensitive situations.
  • Expertise in labor strategies specific to a manufacturing, production, operations heavy environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired:
  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, or other related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in investigative and analytical techniques, procedures, and requirements.

Compensation range for on site CO applicants is $177,353-$248,293
