Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with processing high volumes of departmental purchase orders and invoices
  • Ensure appropriate coding and categorization of all purchase orders and invoices
  • Troubleshoot invoicing errors and work independently with outside vendors to correct
  • Monitor and track departmental budget(s) and generate reports/updates as required
  • Perform detailed forecasting and variance analysis
  • Work with the Accounting department regularly to ensure budget goals are met
  • Act as a primary contact for external resources including outside organizations and agencies
  • Create and maintain various divisional and departmental reports and presentations of a routine or complex nature as needed
  • Organize and attend departmental meetings, activities, and functions
  • Maintain professional working relationships with all employees, members, and vendors at all times
  • Maintain regular attendance; arrive to work on time and ready to work
  • Use safe work practices at all times and in all situations
  • Must be able to appropriately handle confidential information and act within the practices established by the Bluebonnet Red Flag policy

Education and Experience:

  • Utility industry experience preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Must possess 2 - 3 years of administrative or accounting/financial experience

Licensing and Certification:

  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Must be certified in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood-borne pathogens

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess strong attention to detail and ability to effectively multi-task
  • Advanced knowledge of current developments in areas of interest to the department
  • Thorough knowledge of Bluebonnet policies and guidelines
  • Excellent planning, time management, and organizing skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Ability to research and analyze complex and diverse data
  • Skill in problem solving including problem identification, fact-finding, research, analysis, and solution development
  • Ability to effectively use MS Office products
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Smartsheet functionality
  • Writes clearly and informatively and presents numerical data effectively
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and positively; focused on improvement or problem resolution in a constructive, positive, and professional manner
  • Able to speak confidently in front of departmental groups
  • Interpersonal skills that result in effective working relationships with peers, members, and vendors

Tools and Equipment Used:

  • Office Equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, etc.
  • May be required to drive a cooperative vehicle

Physical Demands:

  • Requires repetitive motion of hands and fingers such as dialing and keyboarding
  • Light lifting of up to 10 pounds

Work Environment:

  • Typical office environment
  • Hours are consistent with normal business operations as well as employee and member requirements
  • Travel to various Bluebonnet offices to assist in operations
  • Attendance at evening meetings, conferences, workshops and other professional meetings including overnight travel may be required
