Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the cleaning, sterilizing and processing of surgical instruments and supplies used by the surgical team and other departments throughout the hospital system.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, while staying focused on detail.
  • Responsible for all aspects of sterilization; will clean and sterilize instrumentation and linen for surgical services.
  • Attention to detail is required to be able to learn sterilization and some sterile techniques within surgical areas.
  • Physical agility required to push/pull 200 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs., and walk/stand 90% of the shift.
  • Energetic, self motivated individual for a busy environment requires good written and verbal communication, with great customer service skills.
  • Employees will receive used surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment from the operating room and other areas throughout the hospital.
  • Responsible for disassembling, inspecting, cleaning, reassembling and sorting contaminated supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for loading, monitoring, operating, and maintaining various kinds of cleaning and sterilization equipment.
  • Responsible for identifying, documenting, and reporting equipment in need of repair.
  • Responsible for organizing and assembling instrument trays required for specific surgical cases and filling special request as needed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Responsible for maintaining detailed records of all equipment and supplies.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Previous hospital based experience desired; will consider an LVN or ORT

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Sterile Processing Certification
  • CPR certified from the American Heart Association or the Red Cross
