The Senior Lending Assistant provides clerical support to Regional CEO and Commercial Lenders. Assist customers with inter-bank telephone transfers and account balances. Type loan and credit memorandums and assist Commercial Lender with loan closings and fundings. Prepare loan advances, clear up loan exceptions, and call on past due loans to secure payment. Request credit reports and send out approval and denial packages on indirect loans to appropriate departments. Perform other duties as assigned and including, but not limited to, items detailed below.

Responsibilities

  • Contact and meet with clients/prospects to collect the necessary information to process loan requests. This may involve taking loan application(s), opening new account(s), and retrieving information from the Bank's imaging system
  • Prepare and review with clients necessary documents at time of loan application, adhering to compliance standards
  • Assist Lenders in achieving all sales efforts, follow up on all client impacted sales initiatives involving the Bank's systems and promote a great client experience
  • Process loan requests in conjunction with our centralized processing / underwriting area, maintaining contact with our clients and the Lender who initiated the loan
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Bank's loan and deposit products and guidelines
  • Handle client inquiries; help with problem solving, research and customer service
  • Review closing settlement statements prior to closing and go over with client, if requested
  • Work and renew all matured loans and look for other opportunities to cross sell
  • Ensure compliance with established policies, business plans, industry guidelines and regulatory bodies
  • Coordinate with Lenders, attorneys and others to facilitate closings; ensure closings are being set in a timely manner
  • Review loans for proper approval and processing completion; knowledge of proper commercial loan documentation necessary to protect the Bank
  • Prepare all documentation for extensions, modifications, and new commercial loans
  • Ensures that all loans are being disbursed properly, meet compliance guidelines, & completed in a timely manner
  • Review all commercial loan packages for proper documentation, determine if all commercial loan-closing documents were returned, and comply with the quality review
  • Determine and clear doc prep exceptions, track for trailing items
  • Assist with collecting past due loan payments by calling loan clients and coordinating receipt of same
  • Administrative duties including answering phones, screening calls, purchase postage stamps, order supplies, schedule equipment maintenance, maintain calendar, schedule appointments/travel arrangements, incoming and outgoing mail, complete monthly expense reports, and take meeting minutes
  • Copy and distribute loan packages as needed for Loan Committee
  • Coordinate, collect and update information for the monthly marketing pipelines and asset quality meetings
  • Coordinate onboarding process (Computer/Phone/Supplies/Cards/Office) for all direct reports for EVP/ Regional CEO
  • Arrange various meetings and training classes, attend training classes, and participate as a trainer as required
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures of the Bank including BSA/AML

Any and all duties as requested by management

About You:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • 5+ years Lending Assistant experience, Commercial, Real Estate and working capital Line of Credit loan documentation including processing, closing, perfecting liens, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skill for effective interactions with clients.
  • Proficiently communicate with branch personnel, loan officers, commercial lending staff, attorneys, etc.
  • Detailed oriented with ability to multi-task.
  • Must be self-motivated and work in a team environment.
  • Requires a high energy level and strong sense of urgency.
  • High level of customer relation and interpersonal skills (verbal and written), tact and integrity
  • Proficiency in typing, PC, Microsoft Office, and ability to operate standard office equipment
  • Excellent organizational, multi-tasking skills and ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Good time management skills, task orientation, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
  • Must be able to process information quickly while maintaining quality
