Job Description

Reporting to the SVP, Enterprise Application Architecture, the Vice President Digital Solutions Principal Architect drives our strategic digital initiatives forward. This role will inform and establish the strategy, collaborating closely with visionary enterprise architects, shared service teams such as security & infrastructure, translating strategic visions into actionable plans leveraging the latest digital technologies to turn our vision into reality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with business stakeholders to understand their challenges and translate them into actionable technical requirements to drive and implement Digital strategy.
  • Leads the development of modern apps based on latest app architecture and design paradigms such as "12-factor app", "composable apps" etc. leveraging cloud-native PaaS services and distributed databases coupled with DevSecOps practices.
  • Develops app reference architectures, app frameworks and design patterns based on micro-frontend development and backend micro-services based on containers, service mesh and Kubernetes deployments.
  • Leads the integration of cloud apps with cloud hosted data lakes, partner data stores and CRM platforms such as MS Dynamics 365 and Salesforce.
  • Spearheads the development of cohesive technology ecosystems (including hands-on coding when required) by collaborating with peers in IT Operations & Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Digital Products, IT Project Management, Application Development, and Integrations.
  • Defines and implements technology and security requirements for new applications and projects, serving as a subject matter expert on digital technologies and information security.
  • Develops detailed solution architectures that prioritize scalability, security, and integration, ensuring alignment with industry standards and compliance regulations.
  • Creates comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and configuration guides.
  • Collaborates with business stakeholders, project managers, and development teams to gather requirements and provide expert technical guidance for successful project delivery.
  • Leads the definition of target and current state architectures, transition architectures, and roadmaps, driving technology strategies forward.
  • Utilizes expertise in digital technologies to lead organizational transformations, guiding teams through modern cloud-native architectures.
  • Provides technical and architectural leadership across both legacy and modern cloud-based distributed systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or equivalent work and educational experience.

Master's degree preferred.

Certification:TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent preferred.

Experience:

  • 15+ years work experience building cloud-native apps and leveraging cloud PaaS services.
  • Hands-on Architect, experienced in design, development, and documenting secure, scalable, and maintainable cloud-based apps utilizing public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP preferred).
  • Experienced in integration of APIs from various sources to ensure seamless data flow within the solution.
  • Experience working with CRM platforms such as MS Dynamics 365 and Salesforce is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing digital strategies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in digital technologies and their application in enterprise settings.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Has a deep technical understanding of cloud-native digital platforms, technologies, and applications.
  • Possesses deep knowledge of modern front-end development frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and key JavaScript libraries.
  • Strong understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) principles and how they can be incorporated into solutions to enhance functionality.
  • Ability to collaborate with development teams to drive consensus and ensure solutions are implemented according to design specifications.
  • Stays abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices to provide thought leadership and innovation.
  • Strong understanding of digital connectedness and emerging technologies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Our company offers a dynamic hybrid work arrangement, which requires three days of on-site work, in the Sugar Land, TX office.
