Job Brief

Analytical Mechanics Associates (AMA) is seeking an Event Planning and Marketing Coordination Intern to support the RSES (Research, Science, and Engineering Services) program management office located at the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC).

AMAis currently accepting applications for a short term (10-week) on-site summer Internship for an Event Planning and Marketing coordination position. Work will be in support of the RSES (Research, Science, and Engineering Services) program management office located at the NASA Langley Research Center (LaRC).

The pay rate for this position will be $21.00-$29.00 per hour and is commensurate with experience and education.

The successful candidate will play an important role in marketing, planning, and hosting the first annual, AMA-hosted, Research, Engineering and Science Symposium (RESSPO) at LaRC. The RESSPO is an event intended to connect NASA's research, engineering and science communities with diverse ideas and people from industry and academia. Preferred candidates will be highly motivated and have academic experience and interest in the marketing or hospitality field.

Tasks associated with the position will include:

  • Coordinating with and supporting event planners.
  • Participating in development and refinement of the event master plan and agenda.
  • Developing event marketing plan consistent with the event theme, brand, and purpose.
  • Creating themes for the event, devising ways to afford various components of the event, and solving problems using creative and often last-minute solutions.
  • Promoting the event through multiple channels including social media.
  • Creation of electronic and printed event announcements and materials.
  • Coordinating with potential event participants, attendees, and vendors.
  • Meeting with stakeholders to explore their goals and expectations for the event.
  • Interacting with guests and employees throughout the course of the event.
  • Working with catering and/or bar staff and venue staff.


Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will assist AMA's Formal Methods team at NASA Langley Research Center with the development of new software modules for the VSCode-PVS verification system, which will include the following tasks:

  • Become familiar with VSCode-PVS.
  • Identify and document the design changes necessary to execute VSCode-PVS on remote machines and distributed servers.
  • Assist in the implementation of new software modules necessary to execute VSCode-PVS on remote machines and distributed servers.
  • Present and communicate technical data to an internal team.

Specific responsibilities will be dependent on strengths and interests of each intern ranging from:

  • Software engineering tasks such as source code implementation, documentation, and testing.
  • Usability engineering tasks such as designing front-end widgets to simplify user interaction with the developed extension.
  • Technical writing and documentation of project milestones and engineering processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Progress toward a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in or related to marketing, business, communications, or hospitality.
  • Strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience with managing and using data in multiple sources and coordinating with stakeholders within the same organization and outside the organization.
  • Ability to support multiple objectives at the same time, track own work, and provide status updates to stakeholders.
  • Excellent English grammar and spelling skills.
  • Must be a motivated self-starter with strong customer service attitude and the ability to assist and support others in a timely manner.
  • On-site presence at NASA Langley Research Center is required.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
