Position Description

We're looking for a full-time, staff Accountant, 2 to join our Day & Zimmermann team located in Texarkana, TX!

Performs accounting duties in various segments of the Finance department including general, property or cost accounting areas; assists in preparation of forecast and budgets as needed on a periodic basis.

As the Accountant, 2, here's the work you'll do:

  • Maintains the integrity of the general ledger and various subsidiary ledgers and registers such that they are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting standards. Responsible for the monthly close process, preparation and posting of journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, account analysis and cost accounting (cost of good sold and overheads)
  • Assist Finance Director in preparation of forecasts and budget based on input from contracts backlog, Program and Operational management forecasts, and overhead expenditure budget and calculated rates by overhead pool type
  • Performs analysis of established accounting procedures and processes to determine economy, effectiveness and possible recommendations for improvements.
  • Reconciles work in progress, goods receipt and payable invoice clearing accounts
  • Prepares and submits invoices to customers according to contract terms, including the following up, collection, and allocation of payments.
  • Prepares accounting reports such as financial statements and supporting schedules, trial balances, under/over absorbed overhead, bank reconciliations, overhead budget vs. actual
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Regularly exercises initiative, independent judgment and discretion in the performance of duties.
  • Possesses and demonstrates familiarity with GAAP, CAS, FAR, DFAR, and applicable government regulations
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal form; excellent computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of budgeting skills/techniques.Ability to establish and maintain accountable records.
  • Business Acumen - Understands business implications of decisions; Displays orientation to profitability.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field.
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing or industrial accounting
  • CPA a plus
  • SAP, Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $75,120 - $ 112,680 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
