Petrochemical Learning and Development Lead - Central Campus

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ensures program success by strategically planning and teaching course offerings that not only align with current and future industry needs but also play a pivotal role in supporting the continued growth of the incumbent training department at CPET.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversees training in process technology courses, engineer boot camps, and other courses as identified by the advisory committee and incumbent training department.
  • Develops industry contacts for expanding incumbent training.
  • Plans, creates, and implements open enrollment courses to generate targeted revenues and meet industry needs, through collaboration with faculty and designated personnel.
  • Maintains San Jacinto College CPET facilities, equipment, and labs in step with standard industry practices and in safe working condition
  • Assist the Incumbent Training Director(s), CPET subject matter experts (SMEs), and Training Coordinator with curriculum development and organization.
  • Assist as needed in CPET labs during client training or test proctoring.
  • Teaches incumbent classes as needed.
Additional Job Functions:
  • Works with the Advisory Committee, which includes industry, and other relevant associations to set and achieve college and industry workforce goals about education and training of students for the petrochemical industry.
  • Helps to maintain equipment when necessary.
  • Develops reports that demonstrate the attainment of program objectives.
  • Creates and coordinates both short- and long-range planning goals for San Jacinto College CPET and directs planning efforts internally and externally to provide effective direction for meeting the San Jacinto College mission

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Effectively demonstrates proficiency in the scheduling of classes that demonstrate efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to problem solve and make decisions at a complex level.
  • Must be able to work as a team member and be able to process information quickly.
  • Familiarity with the various segments of the petrochemical and energy fields including but not limited to regulations and training requirements.
  • Proficient in teaching and communication strategies.
  • Strong ability to convey complex information in a comprehensible manner.
  • Proficient in fostering understanding and engagement among learners.
  • Must be able to operate and maintain labs at CPET.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in content creation across various formats.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, 10 years of process technology industry experience will be considered as an equivalent qualifying alternative.
Preferred Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in the petrochemical or related field.
Required Experience:
  • 5+ years working as a Process Technician or Engineer and 5+ years of instructor experience in petrochemical training programs.
Preferred Experience:
  • 10+ years working as a Process Technician or Engineer and 5+ years of instructor experience in petrochemical training programs.
Note: This position has the opportunity for limited remote work arrangements with appropriate approvals and in accordance with the policies, procedures, and needs of the College.

Salary Grade: 118

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year.
