Postdoctoral researcher in neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation at Texas A&M University

A postdoctoral position is available in J Li lab () at the Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences and Texas A&M Institute for Neuroscience (), Texas A&M University. The lab studies cellular and molecular mechanisms of central nervous system demyelination and myelin repair with particular focuses on neuroinflammation, neuron-glia interactions, and the role of sphingolipids. The successful candidates will investigate novel mechanisms linking oligodendrocyte (dys)function to brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.

As our studies use a wide range of experimental approaches, including cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, lipid biology, immunofluorescence microscopy and transgenic animal models, ideal candidates should have strong research background in one or more of these areas and ability to work independently and collaboratively. The candidates are also expected to be a team player with high scientific standards and willing to work as a project leader with graduate/undergraduate students. The candidates will have access to high-quality research facilities, close mentorship, and opportunities for career development.

Required qualifications:

Applications are encouraged from self-motivated and career-orientated individuals who have a PhD or are nearing completion of their PhD in neuroscience, cell biology, biochemistry, and a related field and less than 3 years of postdoc research experiences. A strong track record of research productivity and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Experience with mouse models and primary glia and neuron cultures is preferred but not mandatory.
