ENGINEER IV - MECHANICAL

THE ENGINEER IV - MECHANICAL WILL...

  • Leads the identification and recommendation of the purchase, modification and improvement of varied equipment.
  • Manages all aspects of large cross-functional project and is responsible for cost, schedule, performance and deliverables for the entire project.
  • Defines the scope of the project and selects team members from within and outside of their discipline.
  • Leads the completion of engineering & design work related to the installation and retro-fit of varied, complex equipment.
  • Ensures that advanced day-to-day equipment troubleshooting support is provided to Maintenance.
  • Leads the development of standards, processes and procedures within the department.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to less experienced Engineers across disciplines.
  • May provide day-to-day direction to Engineering staff.
  • Specializes in the Mechanical discipline.
  • Performs all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE ENGINEER - MECHANICAL

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 or more years of relevant work experience OR Associate's degree with 20 or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Expert knowledge of latest governing codes (i.e.: NFPA, ASME, SAE, AIST, JIC, etc.).
  • Experience in applying sound engineering and design principles in development of manufacturing processes, process equipment and fabrications.
  • Expert knowledge of water recirculation cooling systems, compressed air and pneumatic systems, vacuum systems, hydraulic systems (pumps, valves and control), and natural gas combustion systems.
  • Experience in dealing with fabrication shops and equipment vendors.
  • Experience with developing RFP's and RFQ's for the purchasing of equipment and services.
  • Experience with field installation coordination and direction.
  • Experience with equipment and process related ergonomic and safety designs and considerations.
  • Experience in working closely with and in support of plant production and maintenance personnel.
  • Ability to work in a production environment.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to conceptually develop and manage large assignments including responsibility for the appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Ability to coach and mentor less experienced Engineers across disciplines.
  • Design skills.
  • Application of recognized Project management principles keying on Cost, Schedule and Performance in the implementation of projects to manage all aspects of large cross functional projects.
  • Ability to apply engineering discipline training in the design of equipment and fabrications.
  • Ability to direct outside consultants, contractors, and material suppliers.
  • Skills in the use of CAD systems (3D capabilities preferred), MS Office software packages, and engineering design software packages.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions.
  • Willing to work in a fast paced, ever-changing work environment.
