New York Life's primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.

Our General Offices are divided among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing, and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market and select cultural markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

The Nautilus Group is an exclusive, nation-wide resource accessible to an elite group of over 200 of the most accomplished financial service professionals in the industry. The ideal candidate will have, at a minimum, seven years of experience in the areas of estate planning, business planning, charitable planning, asset protection planning and income tax planning.

Role Overview

  • Member Agent Support-Work closely with Member agents to brainstorm, consult and research on a wide variety of tax, legal, financial and sales issues.
  • Estate Planning Case Design - Create customized and sales focused estate planning cases that specifically address a client's planning needs (including but not limited to estate tax computation (state and federal), estate planning document analysis, asset protection planning, special needs planning, non-citizen planning, charitable planning, and income tax planning).
  • Business Planning Case Design - Create customized business succession planning cases.
  • Analytical Presentations and Support - Assist Member agents with integrating a client's estate, business, and financial planning objectives by assisting with the development of financial plans, cash flow analyses and custom spreadsheet analyses.
  • Document Reviews - Provide a detailed analysis of various estate and business planning documents (wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, advance directives, operating agreements).
  • Client Presentation/Sales Support - Work collaboratively with Member agents to provide sales support and assist in presenting comprehensive or single-issue estate/business planning strategies to clients and other advisors via phone/video (e.g., Zoom).
  • Member Agent Education - Assist in ongoing education of Member agents through various platforms including Webinars, meeting presentations and technical writing.
  • Special Projects - When needed, assist in specialized writing projects, developing and reviewing technical marketing materials, and developing insurance sales initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor required.
  • CPA, ChFC, FINRA Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of the advanced market, including estate and gift transfer tax planning, business planning, retirement planning, charitable planning, and income tax planning.
  • General knowledge of life insurance products, life insurance taxation and utilizing life insurance for a high-net-worth client's estate and business planning needs.
  • Candidate should be able to analyze complex estate and business planning documents and should have considerable familiarity with operational and technical requirements of various estate and business planning strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Excel to develop ad-hoc modeling of asset shifting techniques, retirement planning analyses and estate tax liability projections.
  • Candidate should be able work independently to develop estate and business planning solutions and to provide technical guidance to Member agents.
  • Candidate should employ a service-oriented approach when interacting with Member agents.
