EnergyVenture Summer Camp Assistant Instructor

EnergyVenture Youth Camp

The Camp Assistant Instructor will work under the direction of guidelines of the Lead Instructor.

The Camp Assistant Instructor needs minimal knowledge and skills in the camp discipline and needs to provide constructive feedback to the campers in the classroom.

Seeking a high energy, enthusiastic person - who likes collaborating with middle school aged children on STEM related activities. Each day of camp is fast paced, educational and fun for the campers.

o Through a host of activities, the camp exposes middle school aged students to the variety of career opportunities in Houston's energy industry.

o The program is designed for young people to learn while having fun. They perform lab experiments, win prizes for "best in class" team efforts, take a "behind the scenes" tour of an energy-related production facility and hear from guest speakers currently working in the energy field.


Chief Responsibilities:

* Assists in the delivery of lessons under the direction of the Lead Instructor

* Assists to keep the classroom's atmosphere as a learning environment and encourages participation of all campers during the STEM activities and team challenges.

* Helps to communicate and enforce the camp classroom rules and guidelines to ensure adherence of the expected student behavior while campers are at San Jac.

* Assists in providing guidance to the students and monitors their progress as students work in their teams on hands-on engineering and science activities.

* Performs daily activities in the classroom, computer lab and the science lab to include set up of supplies and breakdown of equipment at the conclusion of the activity.

* Escorts camp participants to the designated pickup location when the camp concludes each day. Assists and contacts parents if they do not arrive on time to pick up their student.

* Helps in the identification and communication of issues and/or urgent situations needing the attention of the Camp Director.

* Has punctuality and regular attendance during camp weeks.


Dates/Hours:

Camps are held three weeks in June 2024

June 3-7, June 10-14, and June 24-28


For all weeks, hours:

Monday - Thursday, 7:30am -5:30pm

Friday, 7:30am -12pm

Required Qualifications:

  • College sophomore year level in the camp discipline or work experience in the camp discipline (STEM) sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree. Experience working with youth.

Hourly rate is based on the Board-approved rate schedule for the current fiscal year.
