JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician, under the direction of the Manager, Planning & Logistics, will be the subject matter expert on all company manufacturing machinery. The Mechanical Technician is responsible for 1) understanding and following schematics to troubleshoot and/or diagnose problems with equipment 2) use hand and power tools to assemble, maintain, and repair equipment at all of ASG's facilities 3) work with original equipment manufacturers to determine root cause analysis of breakdowns and 4) develop schedules and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop and conduct preventative maintenance on company equipment.
  • Partner with original equipment manufacturers and/or engineering team to troubleshoot equipment breakdown or under performance to requirements.
  • Run diagnostic tests on equipment and adjust when needed.
  • Responsible for daily safe work practices and regulatory compliance/standards.
  • Analyze complex operational problems, evaluating alternatives and recommending or implementing effective courses of action.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety policies and procedures and must be observant to recognize danger or potentially dangerous situation and be able to implement corrective action based on this observation.
  • Identify potential equipment breakdowns and take action to repair prior to causing an operational disruption.
  • Timely, consistent, and predictable attendance.
  • Manage additional assigned projects as requested.
  • Assist Facilities manager in identifying problem areas and maintaining the preventative maintenance program for all locations.
  • Proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Proficient in trouble shooting electrical (including 3 phase systems), HVAC, pneumatic and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledgeable with the operation of HVAC equipment, Generators, Pumps, Compressors and
  • electrical systems.
  • Familiar with Life Safety systems and associated inspections required by NFPA codes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software programs - Word/Outlook.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus two years as a mechanical technician experience in a related industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proficient in trouble shooting electrical (including 3 phase systems), pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses , repair and maintenance
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software programs - Word/Outlook
  • Able to read, understand and implement the correct PPE required by MSDS sheets for all chemicals associated with ASG
  • Ability to read and understand operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast paced - environment
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to fellow associates and management any problems or challenges that may arise during a work day
  • Ability to read hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic schematics, blueprints and interpret schematics to ensure your work is accurate;
  • Welding certificate (preferred)
  • Strong familiarity of programing languages such as G-code (preferred)
  • Assembly line experience (preferred)
  • Blueprint reading skills (preferred)
  • Excellent manual dexterity
  • Attention to detail

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend written and oral English instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively discuss information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly and repeatedly required to talk; hear; stand; walk; stoop; kneel/squat, climb, use hands and fingers, to handle, grip/squeeze and/or feel; push/pull and reach with hands and arms. The associate will be frequently required to balance; crouch, or crawl; reach over-head and taste or smell. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, night vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis).
