Bulk Operator

Your role:

As Bulk Operator, you will be responsible for operating bulk load out systems, flows and equipment, along with all operations associated with the loading and jockeying of bulk and van trailers. Must be able to troubleshoot the systems and take corrective action needed to operate the system.Blend flour(s) and ingredients to specifications and complete all paperwork error free for customers. Must be able to use a computer and have working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Access, and Excel to stay current on customer blends.

Your responsibilities:

  • Daily record keeping including: filling out reports, inspections, bin measurements and weight tickets.
  • Taking flour samples, testing the samples and completing the Certificates of Analysis.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude as minor repairs to the load out system may be necessary.
  • Safely drive and operate yard tractor to jockey bulk tanks in/out of load out shed and park in yard. Also jockey van trailers in/out of warehouse bays.
  • Carefully inspect each tank according to procedure and policy.
  • Facilitate dropping flour loads into bulk tanks.
  • Fill out necessary inspection reports on tanks.
  • Assist feed drivers as needed.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong reading comprehension, writing, and math skills.
  • Proficient in English both written and verbally.
  • Strong work planning and decision-making skills.
  • Analytical skills to recognize and assess problems.

Good to have:

  • At least one year of manufacturing or plant operations experience.
  • Knowledge of: HACCP, GMP, Personal Safety and Food Safety processes.

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Able to lift 50 pounds and exert 20 pounds of force.
  • Able to work in a production environment and wear respiratory protection.
  • Able to work in hot and cold conditions.
  • Ascend and descend stairs throughout the facility.
  • Wear the required Personal Protection Equipment.

Other considerations:

  • Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team.
  • Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, weekends, Holidays, possibly 7 days a week, and opposing shifts when needed.
  • Must be willing to get cross-trained in at least one other position for development within the facility and to provide any relief duties as needed.
  • Assist other plant personnel during normal and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Housekeeping, sanitation and infestation control tasks as assigned.
  • Must perform other duties as assigned.

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
