YOU

As the VP of Strategic Sourcing you will work in a highly collaborative environment, closely with the leadership teams across Simpson Strong-Tie family of products globally. Manage complexity to establish sourcing strategies that help mitigate risks to the supply chain. Develop and execute the sourcing strategies for identified categories while partnering with key stakeholders. Build trust while developing and maintaining key supplier relationships. Exhibit high decision-making quality and customer focus while driving lower cost of materials and services. Drive the vision and purpose of efficiencies to improve use of procurement data and to better analyze supplier relationships.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Lead the development and execution of organizational sourcing strategies in a global environment using current sourcing process, improving processes, and building on analytical methods of competitive market testing, benchmarking, and end-to-end value chain TCO analysis. While utilizing current sourcing processes and tools, identify areas of growth and cost savings opportunities. Be a continuous learner and identify low-cost supply sources with new technology and feature advantages. Provide sourcing solutions and support to the operating units and manage supplier relationships globally. (30%)

Develop and maintain solid category expertise within the organization and the team to achieve best cost solutions, balancing price, quality, quantity, lead-time. Ensure Simpson Strong-Tie is positioned to mitigate mid to long term sourcing risks through the development of alternative sourcing tactics. Drive results to meet or exceed annual quality, material savings, and cash flow goals ensuring compliance. Support our on-going process and resources improvements and implementations of systems. (30%)

Ensure Simpson Strong-Tie meet SLAs. Support third-party risk management programs. Collaborate effectively, promoting positive working relationships with all internal levels, functions, and vendors to build trust and drive results. Oversee remediation efforts, ensuring root cause is addressed to reduce future risk and provide resolutions in a timely manner. Deliver regular updates to key stakeholders. Mentor, coach, and oversee professional development of the team members. Maintain and establish sustainable supply chain initiatives that utilize diverse suppliers and consider environmental impacts. (20%)

Establish and cultivate strategic relationships with key suppliers, leveraging spend across all business units to negotiate favorable contracts and drive value creation. Ownership for all incoming products from the Tawain sourcing office, ZJG raw materials, Asia Buyouts, carton labels, and finished good buyouts. Lead Tawain sourcing office departments including the Lab, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics. Manage all domestic (U.S.) programs (car leases, capex, travel, etc.) as well as Catalogs & Marketing Materials. (20%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • BA/BS in supply chain management, economics, finance, operations, business, accounting or manufacturing related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Professional certification in procurement, sourcing, and supply chain is desirable. At least 15+ years related work experience.
  • Ability to make strategic buying recommendations and take appropriate action.
  • At least 7+ years' strategic sourcing and indirect spend/logistics experience supporting a multi-state matrix organization.
  • Proven record of initiating and carrying out cost reduction/productivity improvement programs.
  • Working knowledge of finance and/or accounting in terms of budgeting, cost management, financial accounting, treasury, risk management, etc.
  • Experience with a P&L business unit or division management. Experience with SAP a plus.
  • Demonstrated innovative thinking skills and ability synthesize large amounts of information to make well informed decisions that align with long term strategic objectives and short term KPI's.
  • Working knowledge of contract administration/law.
  • Experience in dealing with manufacturers and distributors.
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with external partners and knowledge of various manufacturing processes.
  • A progressive, proactive approach that is eager to embrace technology and modern management principles.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in an environment with large volumes of data.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.

Travel

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 25% of the time.

Work Status & Location

This full-time, exempt position is located in Pleasanton, CA. or Dallas/ Fort Worth, TX., and open to remote.

Relocation

Relocation is not available for this position.

Pay

$227,000- $284,000/ year

* Posted pay range is based upon national average and may vary depending on geographical work location.
