JOB SUMMARY
A SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the SCADA systems. The position will design and deploy automation technologies to reduce operational cost, improve runtime and support our culture of safety. The SCADA Engineer will lead and manage technical projects with contractors from kickoff to completion. The position will provide superior customer support to SCADA system users. The role will take direction from Sr. SCADA staff and/or the SCADA Manager. Solves a range of mid-level to difficult problems. The SCADA Engineer requires a detail-oriented skillset with exceptional problem solving skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review logic in Allen-Bradley PLCs, ROCs, and ABB Totalflows for control and measurement purposes in the field
- Manage contractor projects while delivering detailed scopes of work
- Participate in old and new projects from design through documentation, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning
- Work with stakeholders to ensure 24/7 availability of the SCADA system Implement enterprise SCADA system across all areas of operations
- Coordinate testing of new solutions or changes to existing solutions to ensure integrity and quality Implement enterprise SCADA system across all areas of operation
- Partner with the automation team to ensure completion of daily and project field work Develop and maintain standards for programing, hardware and software
- Work with field technicians to resolve and test new devices
- Work with field staff to troubleshoot and resolve communication issues
- Other tasks as assigned
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience with control system design including PLC programs.
- Working knowledge of components for PLC based controls systems including panel layout, architecture, sizing, relay logic, and communication protocols.
- Experience with VFDs and PID control loops.
- Experience with Automation Direct PLC, Allen-Bradley PLC, and Siemens PLC products.
- Software programming (C#, Java, Python) experience is a plus.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required, advanced degree a plus.
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Experience : 5+ Years; Minimum 3 years of oil and gas experience
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Percent of Travel Required: Less than 5% travel for mandatory meetings and/or trainings is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame-resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
