Manufacturing Shift Lead (Night shift, $26+/hr)

Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Manufacturing Shift Lead to be based out of Lovelady, Texas. Reporting to the Production Manager, this person will be responsible for overseeing the plant production in the most efficient manner to produce quality products and meet sales requirements. This includes improving scheduling, production process and workflow on an ongoing basis to ensure the most efficient production of materials. The Shift Leader also ensures that all production activities follow OSHA regulations as well as organizational policies and other applicable government laws or regulations.

What you'll do:

  • Creates, edits, or updates original procedures and maintains accuracy of existing procedures.
  • Provides daily/weekly reports on scrap, Line rate outputs, regrind/pelletized outputs, and repel consumption rates.
  • Establishes goals for production employees, including changeover efficiencies, downtime reductions, and optimized line rate, and first pass yields.
  • Holds daily pre-shift meetings, including a safety topic.
  • Ensures day-to-day production demands are met and reports on missed opportunities.
  • Identifies process and reliability improvements and leads improvement implementation projects.
  • Manages inventory of production tools and supplies.
  • Performs manufacturing time studies, creates, and holds employees accountable to line set up sheets.
  • Maintains up-to-date training and cross-training for shift employees.
  • Performs general housekeeping tasks including maintaining work area in a clean and sanitary manner.
  • Reports attendance of employees daily.
  • Responsible for approval of employee overtime and approval on timesheets as needed.
  • Coordinates effort with Human Resources regarding issues relating to staffing, hiring, termination, discipline, subordinate relations, and worker injuries or illness, in a timely manner for resolution.
  • Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain safe working environment and accurate records.
  • Drives safety initiatives and ensures plant is compliant with OSHA regulations.
  • Notify safety manager immediately of unsafe situation.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    What you'll bring:

    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
    • Three (3) years of experience working in a production environment performing the essential functions listed above, including supervisory experience.
    • Familiarity with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene Extrusion).
    • Strong Knowledge of pipe production.
    • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with many types of personalities.
    • Strong leadership skills with ability to lead employees to assure company goals and results are met.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite or other similar software.
    • Supervisory experience, people skills, ability to manage complex working environment.
    • Thorough knowledge of safety principles and federal/local regulations to include knowledge of OSHA regulations applicable to the manufacturing industry.
    • Knowledge of FDA, GMPs, and ISO 9001.
    • Must have sounds judgment and discretional skills and be able to work with little supervision.
    • Must be able to consistently work under pressure and simultaneously prioritize multiple projects.
    • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
    • Must have a clean driving record and a valid, current driver's license and vehicle insurance.

    Within 3 months, you'll:

    • Complete any required training
    • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
    • Be well-versed in Atkore's Business System and the importance of your role to daily operations.
