About the role: Gartner ITL Analysts possess a keen eye for identifying gaps, challenges, and innovative solutions within the technology market they serve. Through domain knowledge and actionable research, they help clients make evidenced decisions, solve complex issues, and execute new practices that propel clients' businesses toward key objectives.

In your role as Director Analyst in our Content Services and Document Management practice, you will be primarily responsible for advising Gartner clients through expertise in document management solutions and content service platforms for a modern workplace.

What you will do:

  • Build credibility as a domain expert, through a strategic understanding of developments and issues within document management markets and adjacent topic areas

  • Create professional, compelling, clear, actionable, "must-have research" content based on research best practices and Gartner methodologies

  • Provide executive and IT leader clients and prospects with actionable authoritative advice area via virtual or face-to-face interactions

  • Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events and client briefings

  • Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in the research community

  • Proactively work with the wider sales organization and deliver sales support to retain and grow the business

What you will need:

  • A passion for technology and strong interest in evaluating document management tools and opportunities for vendors in this technology market (e.g., OpenText, Microsoft, Box, Hyland, M-Files, SER Group, IBM Filenet, Laserfiche and Newgen)

  • Subject matter expertise in related technology areas (e.g., search engines, business process automation, intelligent document processing, artificial intelligence, content service applications)

  • Demonstrate comfort in presenting with authority to IT Leaders and c-level executives in large global organizations

  • Experience in 2 or more areas:

    • Planning a content services roadmap for enterprise document management

    • Building an information architecture to define and classify document type requirements and relationships

    • Procurement processes, buying/selling cycles and commercial models supported by vendors (e.g., OpenText, Box, Hyland, Microsoft)

    • Integrating document management solutions with line of business applications (e.g., ERP, CRM)

    • Using AI for innovative document management services

    • Microsoft's content services portfolio including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Syntex and Purview for a variety of document management-related use cases

    • Microsoft's partner ecosystem to address unmet content services-related requirements

    • SharePoint migration, particularly Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant and on-premises (SharePoint Server or file shares) to Microsoft 365 (OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams)

  • Demonstrate excellence in researching topics and writing about them

  • Ability to work independently with a schedule, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 10+ years of experience in a related field

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 130,000 USD - 165,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
