A key role in assisting the Engineering team, the Applications Engineer (AE) reviews the customer inquiries and requests for proposals. The AE prepares designs by using PC software and technical product information etc. and develops proposals. The AE discussed the proposal and costing with the RSM (Regional Sales Manager), who is responsible for the selling price.

Your responsibilities

  • Perform engineering tasks to design a motor in accordance with the customer requirements, ensuring that the solution is the most cost effective and reliable.
  • Deliver professional proposals on time, including accurate pricing, full cost pricing that has been reviewed against the account strategy, and a scope of supply that meets the customer's needs.
  • Outline risk factors involved in the quotation that are not in the company's best interest to the regional sales manager when required.
  • Provide value with every transaction to differentiate ABB vs other competitors.
  • Act as a technical resource in person or over the phone to customer for addressing, interpreting, and resolving of technical inquiries and problems related to assigned product lines.
  • Solve technical and costing issues with the Global Customer Support Team.
  • Proactively engages in initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the LSU (Local Sales Unit) and to increase customer satisfaction.
Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with minimum 2 years experience. Preferred Experience includes: SAP, SalesForce, experience with AC Induction Motors and/or Generators in various industries and applications including sales support.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, vendors, management, and other employees of the organization.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
