Do you think you have what it takes to be a great leader and grow a successful area business? HDR is searching for our next Resident Engineer / CEI Project Manager to come in and help manage projects and grow our Construction Engineering & Inspection practice.

They will oversee transportation construction services projects delivered by the Transportation Business Group in major cities in Texas based from the Houston metro area. Additionally, this role will help drive field service pursuits in the Transportation Business Group.

The primary duties for this role include responsibility for Construction Engineering and Inspection services, Project Controls, staff supervision, pursuit management and quality control.

In the role of Senior CE&I Project Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Expected to manage and facilitate pursuits in providing construction services for various clients; provide Construction Expertise to other disciplines in support of pursuits in different sectors.; good communicator and presenter for interviews and/or presentations to clients.
  • Capable of performing construction services activities including review of contract document terms and conditions; performance of constructability and value engineering reviews; construction estimating; schedule preparation and reviews; coordinating expediting and reviewing of construction Submittals & RFIs.
  • Maintain organized project records; monitoring and resolving contract changes; developing and processing of change orders; controlling the project budget,
  • Schedule; review of Contractor's means and methods; coordinating and managing project quality assurance and control and inspection services (including inspection reports).
  • Monitor staff compliance with the Health and Safety Program through communication and inspections, and project setup and temporary facilities.
  • Manage project staff both in the field and office; manage the necessary inspection and testing to meet project requirements; manage subconsultants and monitor work activities and performance on contracts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, or equivalent degree.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in various aspects of construction planning and management.
  • PE license required.
  • Must have TxDOT experience.
  • Experience with pursuit and staff management is required.
  • Must have recent experience delivering construction services to transportation clients (Road Bridges Highways Rail/Transit Aviation).
  • Experience with estimating, scheduling software (Primavera), and project management software preferred.
  • Significant previous experience in the transportation construction field is required.
  • Must have strong people skills and the ability to interact with the design team.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must be computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference given to candidates with previous experience in servicing DOT clients.

Physical Expectations/Requirements:

  • Must be able inspect any work on site without any physical assistance (such as ladders, man-lifts, underground structures, traverse uneven and irregular surfaces) except that which would normally be provided by the contractor's personnel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and email.
  • Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments.
  • Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Be able to operate a vehicle day or night.
  • Travel may be required at times.
