Position Summary:  Under general direction, primary responsibilities include all aspects of portfolio
management as it relates to assigned portfolio loans, ensuring credit risk standards and clean portfolios are maintained.  Additional responsibilities include facilitating comprehensive credit analysis that evaluates the new and existing facilities in the portfolio. The loan portfolio shall consist of all types of commercial loans including but not limited to lines of credit, term notes, letters of credit, permanent owner-occupied mortgages, and/or commercial construction.  Project manage the underwriting and processing of credit relationships sourced by Commercial Lenders in order to increase their time selling to grow the bank’s loans and deposits.   Portfolio Managers will support up to three Commercial Lenders based on transaction volumes and overall relationship numbers under the PM’s management. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitates preparation of credit underwriting and analysis of new and existing loans in connection with originations, renewals and modifications; assists in facilitating closing of transactions
  • Provides narrative and final review of Credit Approval Requests (CARs) and coordinates Commercial Lender comments prior to presentation to Credit Committee; attends Credit Committee presentations as support
  • Works w/Loan Monitoring to insure covenant compliance and financial reporting are accurate; reviews Borrowing Base Certificates for line availability, covenant calculations accuracy; shares trends with Commercial Lenders to ensure appropriate risk grading
  • Assists Commercial Lenders by reviewing, recommending, and modeling appropriate loan structure for new and existing loan relationships
  • Prepares periodic reviews of existing loans to assess credit quality and covenant compliance
  • Assists Commercial Lenders in managing past due and maturing loans
  • Assists Lending Assistant with clearing exceptions as applicable
  • Coordinates with Credit Risk to obtain Credit Analyst assignment and scheduling for Credit Executive pre-screen meetings (as applicable for Expressions of Interest) or Credit Committee; will attend Credit Executive and Credit Committee with Commercial Lender and may be required to present request in those forums
  • Coordinates execution of loan documents and works with Loan Closer and Loan Ops on booking process
  • Actively participates in research, preparation and execution of customer calls with Commercial Lender and may attend calls and site visits based on determination of Commercial Lender
  • Assists with construction of term sheets for final review, release and negotiation by Commercial Lender to client
  • Reviews and/or prepares Loan Authorization Reports (“LAR”)
  • Works with Commercial Lender and attorneys on engagement, preparation and review of loan documents
  • Assists Treasury Services as needed with ACH credit risk approvals or applicable exception requests
  • Adherence to all policies and procedures of the Bank including BSA/AML
  • Works with outside banks to facilitate participation/syndication credits as applicable

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Financial analysis and credit training
  • Up to 3 years portfolio management or applicable post credit training experience (e.g. Commercial Lender)
  • Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, core bank systems (e.g. Silverlake/Jack Henry)
  • Experience with financial analysis programs, financial information templates and cash flow models
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team oriented, and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and balance multiple work assignments while meeting deadlines
  • Motivated, inquisitive, organized, detail-oriented and adaptive to change
  • Able to work extra hours as project or deal flow periodically requires

Working Conditions:
  • Professional banking environment, deadlines, moderate noise level, collaborative team approach, some client in-person meetings and local travel, generally a 40-hour work week with flexibility required to meet production demands
