Job Description:
Provides technical support services to customers and support staff for issues or problems. Moves, adds, and changes equipment and software. Performs entry-level network tasks. Work involves assisting in development, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of a local area networks or wide area networks. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions:
Expected to work a predictable work schedule. Availability to work after hours and/or weekends when work dictates the need for after-hours support and be available during emergency situations to provide customer support.
Provides customer service and answers user inquiries regarding computer software, hardware, and the use of systems and software applications. Images computers and adds software to computers.
Schedules computer adds/moves/changes and completes the installations.
Completes procedures for backup and recovery of files stored on the network. Communicates with vendors, users, management, and network programming staff. Serves as contact for remote network locations to obtain clarification of problems and to identify solutions or corrective actions. Provides user support and training in the use of available hardware, software, and utilities. Assists in maintaining the local area network or wide area network, cable, hub installations, and inventories. Assists in product evaluations of upgraded or new hardware and software and identifies strengths, weaknesses, and potential benefits to the agency. Assists in maintaining the operating system and security software utilized on the network. Performs related work as assigned.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of personal computer hardware and software.
Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques.
Knowledge of network operating systems and security software.
Knowledge of performance monitoring and capacity management tools.
Ability to recognize, analyze and resolve personal computer and network problems.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
High School diploma or GED required
Current valid driver's license from state of residence
Computer/technical course completion or trainings preferred
ITIL Foundation Certification preferred
Initial Selection Criteria:
Experience in supporting desktop operating systems, preferably Microsoft Windows, in a local or wide area network environment.
Experience in providing hands on technical support for personal computer hardware and software in a local or wide area network environment.

Must have reliable transportation with the appropriate insurance coverage and a valid driver's license from state of residence. Must be capable of transporting computer and network equipment to complete work requests.
