Ceres was founded as a tree service company in 1976 during a severe beetle infestation. During the crisis, founder David McIntyre identified the need to provide safe, cost-efficient removal of the affected trees while simultaneously inventing and implementing practices to minimize environmental impact. Investing significantly in heavy equipment including massive wood grinders and screens, Ceres quickly emerged as an industry leader in developing innovative recycling techniques to create valuable mulches, composts, and soils from wood waste.

The Ground Up is Texas’ premier producer of high-end mulches, composts and specialty soils and is a quality distributor of nursery plants throughout the Houston area.

TGU takes in clean vegetative and agricultural waste in the form of unwanted trees and brush as well as organic fruit and vegetable wastes and reduces this material through mechanical grinding. Following strict quality control standards, the material “ages” in place and undergoes further processing that leaves rich organic material full of minerals and nutrients which replenish soil and plants.
