Job Description

Partner/Principal/Engagement Manager/Consultant, Client Engagement

Location: Chicago or NYC area

Responsibilities

The newly created global Client Engagement team will develop IRI perspectives on emerging consumer packaged goods (CPG) & retail industry trends and translate those viewpoints into strategic 'outside-in' recommendations for senior executives at IRI's top clients, leveraging IRI's industry expertise across categories and disciplines, technology, analytics, IRI and other secondary data assets, and thoughtful, innovative analysis. The team will work collaboratively with IRI client service teams, solution teams, regional and country managers and IRI Marketing, with an initial focus on top global clients. The position will:

  • Identify critical business issues around a variety of client topics including growth, emerging demand spaces, go-to-market and omnichannel execution, brand/store brand, innovation, shopper trends, revenue management, supply chain, media.
  • Link client challenges to IRI's vast data and technology assets, analytics, and value-added solutions.
  • Partner in a highly collaborative environment with other associates in Client Engagement, client teams and subject matter experts, globally, to develop and engage senior client executives.

Professional Experience
The ideal principal candidate will have experience with a top tier management consulting firm, boutique CPG and retail strategy consulting firms, or marketing and sales functions in consumer industries with previous consulting experience. The selected candidates will bring a proven depth and experience in marketing and sales strategy across the CPG and retail sectors. The selected candidates will have:

  • Several years of CPG or retail-oriented business experience in a leading strategy consulting company.
  • Innovative yet practical, non-traditional approach to problem identification and resolution.
  • Excellent applied and tested strategic and analytical acumen.
  • Proven skills to confidently "fill in the blanks" when only 70% of the facts are at hand.
  • Proven ability to maintain sharp focus amidst multiple priorities; keen ability to prioritize and manage time/teams/projects.
  • Executive poise and presence.
  • Rigorous, practical, analytical and fact-based approach to problem solving/solution implementation.
  • Highly collaborative; proven skills managing cross-functional project teams.

Education
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; an advanced degree is strongly preferred.
