The role of the Company Driver - Non- CDL is a driver operating vehicles which are less than 26,000 lbs. Mainly driving locally, however could drive shipments taking a few days through multiple states. The position provides superior service to our customers and safely packs and prepares for move and transports their valuables to the correct destinations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with packing, wrapping and loading household goods or other commodities. Ensure customer belongs are secured and ready for transportation to their new destination.
  • Assist with unloading customer belongs and place in new destination.
  • Lifts and moves heavy packages and other equipment.
  • Driving to and from delivery destinations.
  • Keeping driving records (i.e. mileage and gas receipts).
  • Must observe and obey speed limits and all road signs.
  • Responsible for performing simple vehicle maintenance (i.e. taking vehicle for inspections, filling tires with air, etc.)
  • Informs supervisor of any vehicle problems.
  • Pleasantly interacts with customers to obtain payment, signatures, and giving receipts.
  • Maintain assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside.
  • Fuel the assigned vehicle(s).
  • Must inventory household goods and other commodities identified for transport.
  • Comply with all DOT HOS and guidelines for distances over 100 miles guidelines.
  • Comply with Interstate DOT HOS and guidelines when delivering shipments marked as interstate.
  • Participates in and completes all training as required.
  • Practices and reinforces superior customer service skills by providing courteous and efficient service to all customers.
  • Performs vehicle and trailer inspections as required.
  • Completes all necessary logs, electronically and manually, as needed, and submits to appropriate management by required timeframes.
  • Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Program.
  • Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Must be at least 21 years old, any exceptions can only come from approval from company's insurance provider.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background and drug screen.
  • Must pass MVR screening.
  • Must be eligible to be employed in the United States.
  • Must speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Must be physically able to perform all duties of the position and obtain a DOT physical and Medical Card per DOT regulations.
  • Must conform to all DOT regulations including hours of service and log book procedures.
  • Must have a clear drug screen, clear background check and need to be able to gain access to Military bases - No convictions in last 7 years.
  • No moving violations in the last 2 years
  • Verifiable job/school history for 3 years.
  • Must possess a current, valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete a driver's road test.
  • Abled to be certified by United Van Lines safety department, preferred.
  • Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient routes.
  • Positive, proactive, and professional demeanor.
  • Preferred experience in Household Goods packing, loading and transportation.
