Attention all Journeyman level Lineman or Serviceman!

We welcome all Distribution or Transmission Journeyman Level Lineman or Serviceman who are active and passive in their job search to apply to this General Interest requisition.  In this requisition, you will be able to express interest in Journeyman Level Lineman or Serviceman positions within the Texas and/or the New Mexico locations. Requirements for Journeyman in TX & NM

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

To be considered at the Journeyman level, must possess a Journeyman Lineman Certification that is approved by the Department of Labor.

Valid Class A CDL driver’s license including a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
Must successfully score on the Behavioral Assessment
Must be capable of performing all aspects of electric distribution overhead, underground, construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Must be available for emergency call-outs as per a schedule.
Must have effective communication skills (verbal and written).
Position could possibly require travel for extended time periods
Must be physically fit and able to lift objects up to 90 pounds, pass a physical examination and be able to perform strenuous physical labor under all types of conditions.
Experience with bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers and groundwork with utility line crew required
A high awareness of safety and compliance with company safety rules is required at all times
Completion of an approved apprentice line program is required
Must live within 20 miles of service center. Selection criteria may include testing and/or assessment. Must pass the Xcel Energy security and drug screening

Steps in Xcel Energy’s hiring process

1. All qualified candidates will be sent an online assessment via e-mail. Applicants must successfully pass in order to be further considered.
2. Candidates who successfully pass the assessment will be contacted to come in for an information session and interview.
3. After attending our information session/interview, our Team Leaders will collaborate to decide which candidates are best qualified and offers will be made.
4. Candidates who accept the employment offer will be required to pass Xcel Energy’s background check and drug test. This process can take up to two weeks before clearance is issued.
5. After successful passing of the background check and drug test, candidates are ready to start the training class.
