Position Purpose
  • The main function of the Senior Technician Advanced 2 is to be responsible for the completion of inspection, including initial interpretation, reporting and billing. Senior Technician Advanced Technicians are thoroughly familiar with the scope and methods of NDT being used and should perform assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of Assistant Technicians.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operates tools and equipment to accomplish job assignments and client requirements
  • Inspect and interpret readings as required in real time, to determine areas of interest.
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications
  • Set-up and calibrate all equipment used, interpret, evaluate, and document results through formal reports
  • Safely Operates company vehicles and strictly adhere to company safety regulations
  • Direct, mentor, and train personnel in the method(s) in which certified and capable of
  • Provide direction and guidance with the codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized by the company and client
  • Responsible for all paperwork to be turn in a timely manner including safety forms, company required forms, customer forms, and timesheets
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and promote a positive customer service attitude internally and externally
  • Follow and enforce the Company required safe work practices and procedures at all times

  • Enforce and abide the requirements of safe operation and personal safety using required Personal Protective Equipment and Safe Practices per company policy
  • Perform other job related tasks as assigned by management
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Mentor and train coworkers assigned to you through on the job training in safe work practices, technical skills and compliance with company policy
  • Ensure a safe, secure, and legal work environment for all staff ensuring all company policies are being followed
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to be certified in accordance with Applus+ written practice in the following methods: RT, UT, MT, PT
  • Ability to set up and standardize equipment, conducts tests, interpret and evaluate findings in compliance with required specifications, standards and or customer specifications
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the techniques and method in which are to be employed
  • Be capable of developing written work instructions from approved general procedures
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Knowledge of arithmetic and algebra
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
  • Must have analytical capabilities for customer needs assessment and solutions identification
  • A sense of urgency, good attention to detail, and follow-thru
  • Knowledge of Industry Codes
  • Knowledge of NDT equipment and ability to effectively perform assigned NDT inspections
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks and respond to short notice work assignments

  • Possess excellent communication skills to convey information to customers and colleagues effectively

Education and Work Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical Background in NDT methods and techniques preferred
  • Minimum of 3+ years of NDT experience with full documentation of prior training, experience and certification is required
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Certificates and Licenses Required
  • CNDT Level II certification: RT, MT, PT, UT
  • ANDT Level II certification in: UTPA, AUT, TOFD, etc
  • Must meet minimum company requirements to operate a company vehicle and be eligible for coverage under Company insurance program
Physical Activities and Requirements
  • Able to perform very heavy work (exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects)
  • Balancing: Maintaining the body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount and kind of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion
  • Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips
  • Dexterity: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position, up to a maximum of 50 pounds. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
  • The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations)
  • The ability to bend stretches, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand
  • The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion

Working Conditions
  • The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather.

  • Overtime required during the week and weekend with work volume.
  • Ability to travel when required, nationally, up to 50% of the time.
