Position Description

Coordinates a section in a department that has institutional oversight responsibilities. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program or departmental project as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and/or students.

About the Department and/or College

Texas Tech at DFW is an innovative educational facility tailored to serve past, present and future Red Raiders in the Metroplex. Texas Tech University's multi-purpose site in Irving offers hybrid online academic programs, student services, meeting spaces, and event services, fostering community partnerships to support local education and regional economic development.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Provide on-site support for scheduled events (i.e. educational classes, workshops, departmental or alumni receptions, , etc.) including setup, execution, and breakdown.
  • Assist and collaborate with the Senior Event Planner and IT Support Senior Technician in the coordination and logistics of events to ensure all materials and IT equipment are prepared and functional.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to event participants, vendors, faculty and staff.
  • Shift leader and keyholder on duty granting access to students, faculty, and other visitors and responsible for opening and closing operations.
  • Instruct event participants in the use of on-site technology and educational tools and troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues during events.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and security regulations during events. Responsible for the safety and security of students, employees, records, and property.
  • Offer feedback and suggestions to improve event execution and participant experience. Maintain site readiness and cleanliness of facility.
  • Provide positive and quality customer service for the staff and faculty assigned to the DFW site, facilitating a supportive work environment, and ensuring effective communications.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to work flexible hours during the night and weekend shift to support faculty, students, and events; Excellent customer service skills; Ability to facilitate events by setting up, moving, and putting up furniture and assisting in event execution; Critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize, plan, organize, and resolve issues as they arise; Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment; Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co-workers with job duties and be a team player to ensure event success.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree plus two (2) years related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience to equal six (6) years.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree. Prior experience in event and facility management.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated past operation and facility management experience in either an academic or service environment. Experience in event support. Experience in IT troubleshooting. Experience in a customer service or hospitality role. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal; Effectively interact with event attendees, vendors, faculty & staff, enthusiasm for creating memorable experiences and an entrepreneurial approach to work.

Pay Statement
