As our Designer/Drafter, you will be a part of a knowledgeable and well-diverse engineering team who loves to have fun and get stuff done! You will work directly with engineers and customers to understand their requirements and use that information and your product knowledge to design innovative solutions that will meet and/or exceed their expectations.


Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Two-year associate degree from a technical school, training, and practice in CAD software and related programs. Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate (CSWA) certification is preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with Solid Works CAD platform and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), product data management, and ERP systems
  • DFM (Design for Manufacture) & DFA (Design for Assembly) - Proven ability to follow designs from release through manufacture
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to act as a direct technical liaison with all internal and external functions
  • Working knowledge of specifications, regulations and compliance requirements as they pertain to Maine, Oil, and Gas (MOG), Rail Mass Transit (RMT), and cable industry (i.e. military specifications, RoHS, UL, Plenum, etc.)

What will you be Accountable for?

  • Product design and execute visions of the engineering team
  • Create 2D and 3D drawings for customers, production, & sales
  • Update redlines, old and new internal drawings, and tools to be used in production
  • Technical knowledge of engineering principles to meet new product development in accordance with engineering standards, systems, procedures and policies
  • Documents and records all product data/design information using CAD and product data management/ERP system


How will you Collaborate?

You will have the opportunity to work closely with engineers, operations, business development, customer service, sales, and quality to positively impact the business by helping to resolve issues. Work with the engineering team to convert ideas into technical drawings, including prototypes, design modifications, and updates for manufacturing purposes (i.e. concept drawings, specification, GD & T, etc). Interfaces with customers indirectly & directly to support the sales team including but not limited to customer visits & meetings. Work with production for continuous improvement on the new and existing products.

  • Assist in develop new products, review for design accuracy, & perform product reviews to meet the standards
  • Support the Engineering team to make informed product and process decisions and improvements
  • Support other departments outside of engineering to handle technical inquiries from customers
  • Develop strong documentation, tooling processes for all new products
  • Support company policies and procedures to meet company objectives
