Purpose

TAMEST (Texas Academy of Medicine, Engineering, Science & Technology), a nonprofit scientific research organization based in Austin, Texas, is currently seeking an Associate Director of Development to join our team. This position will support the development, fundraising and stewardship needs of an established scientific organization with broad support and several promising opportunities for additional growth and expansion. This position will report to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities
  • Provide operational support for major fundraising and development opportunities to fund and expand TAMEST programs and initiatives

  • Collaborate with Executive Director to create and execute annual development and stewardship strategy

  • Development and solicitation of sponsorships for annual conference

  • Stewardship of donors and supporters, including communications and correspondence

  • Support TAMEST Board of Directors, Executive Director, and other engaged constituents in advancing the organization's fundraising

  • Manage annual giving campaign

  • Collaborate with Executive Director to develop, launch and manage planned giving program

  • Collaborate with Executive Director to develop, launch and manage strategic fundraising program for TAMEST Mary Beth Maddox Award

  • Stewardship and strategic engagement of members and member institutions, including working with the TAMEST team on outreach for annual membership dues

  • Work with TAMEST team to design and execute networking events and receptions throughout the year

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.

  • At least three years of significant development experience with a strong track record of success in the creation and execution of fundraising strategies, preferably in an academic or non-profit environment.

  • Familiarity with the scientific research enterprise in Texas, including major research universities, medical centers, industry and government.

  • Excellent communication abilities (verbal, written and personal) and talent for engaging high-level leaders andadministrators.

  • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills and ability to work well under pressure in an organized way with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience working in a team environment and independently, ability to collaborate well.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with high-level executives and university administrators in fundraising, particularly in the state of Texas.

  • Leadership of a fundraising team.

  • Event planning experience.

  • Experience in a Salesforce-based constituent database.

  • Experience with Canva.

Salary Range

$65,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm

  • This position is eligible for a Hybrid Flexible Work Arrangement (remote + on-campus)

  • Prolonged screen time

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

  • Occasional in-person meetings and travel for TAMEST programs and initiatives will be required

  • Occasional overnight and/or weekend work due to events. Flexibility and adaptability in schedule are essential
