Position Purpose

Implement automation and flows for custom integrated circuit design and 3DHI modeling across the wide range of EDA tools. Develop and maintain automation scripts in Linux environments, as well as Windows applications. Define design flows andprovide user support for TIE's Assembly Design Kits (ADK's), while helping to ensure interoperability with our partner PDK's. Works closely with EDA vendors and our internal Design and Processes engineering teams to develop and define TIE's preferred tool sets that will enable 3DHI system design for our potential customer base and our internal design/modeling teams.

Responsibilities
  • Help develop and maintain TIE's ADK (Assembly Design Kits).

  • Create and maintain scripts to assure the compatibility and integration of simulation (Hspice/verilog), physical verification, and parasitic extraction collateral within our ADK.

  • Developing innovative physical design place & route methodology and flow solutions to meet current and future design challenges.

  • Working closely with EDA vendors to evaluate their capabilities and drive future improvements to meet our wide range of design needs (multi-material, multi-physics)

  • Participate in establishing physical design methodologies, flow automation, chip floorplan, power/clock distribution, chip assembly and maintaining the flow infrastructure and automation for our internal design and modeling teams.

  • Support TIE's standard cell offerings and drive validation/simulation/emulation capability around those standard cells.

  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring and customer support for our internal design and 3D modeling teams.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or closely related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in physical design, CAD development, and/or infrastructure support.

  • Extensive experience in developing and customizing high performance design flows using industry-standard EDA tools and physical synthesis from Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens, Ansys, or Keysight tool suites.

  • Experience with driving EDA vendors to make tool improvements or new functions to meet advanced or unique design requirements.

  • Experience in developing and supporting CAD flows for RTL to GDS designs of silicon or III-V in digital, analog, and/or RF domains.

  • Excellent UNIX and scripting programming skills (Perl, Python, and/or TCL). Experience with software build automation and version control software

  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and communication abilities, with the ability to contribute to company-wide consensus on design flows and tools.

  • Previous experience integrating PDK and ADK's to enable 2.5D or 3D SoC's a big plus

  • Proficiency in both Linux and Windows environments.

Relevant education and/or industry experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or Doctoral degree in semiconductor engineering fields such as Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or other relevant disciplines.

  • Prior experience in semiconductor design, product engineering, manufacturing, Test, or packaging.

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C/C++ for simulation, data analysis, and automation.

  • Experience in a startup or research and development (R&D) environment.

Salary Range

$160,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed on-site in a scientific research environment, with dynamic work conditions and frequent interruptions.
