SUMMARY:

Assists the Director of Student Advocacy Support with the development and management of departmental initiatives with the intent of increasing student success, providing student advocacy, and accessible basic needs. Within the Division of Student Affairs, this position will uphold the values of advocacy, collaboration, innovation, integrity, and student development. Position is also responsible for community outreach by connecting with stakeholders across campus to build relationships, participate in outreach and promote advocacy services.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides on-going service, assessment, and case management to students of concern. This includes direct assistance, individual advocacy, referrals to the appropriate campus services and programs, and outside agencies. Identify gaps in accessible needs and implements programs and services to fit student needs
  • Assists Director with oversight of student advocacy & support based initiatives to include the Lion Food Pantry, the Lion Wardrobe, Foster Care Alumni, victim advocacy, general case management/addressing students of concern legal services, and the student ombuds. Provides oversight and supervision for case management services and training, and Evaluate productivity weekly and manage individual and team performance.
  • Consult and coordinate with faculty, staff and administration regarding individual students, policies and procedures. Partners with other departments and off campus agencies to streamline access to resources.
  • Works closely with and coordinates cases with appropriate offices on and off campus, serving as a liaison between the victim, law enforcement, Title IX staff, social services, community-based organizations, professors, other campus departments and officials, employers, landlords and other agencies.
  • Leads, develops and coordinates development of news releases, newsletters and marketing efforts for advocacy services.
  • Assists with developing, implementing, and evaluating programs and training for faculty, staff and students.
  • Attends departmental and university meetings and collaborates with other offices and agencies.
  • Manages project budget and compliance with funding requirements, and maintains records and files relating to grant reporting.
  • Serve as the institutional Foster Care Liaison and Pregnancy and Parenting Liaison
  • Provides supervision to Professional Staff, Graduate Assistants, Student Workers, and Volunteers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related clinical area, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Four years related experience. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with students and monitor student movement during the case management process.
  • Licensing/Professional Certifications: Educator Certification, Social Work Licensure, Counselor Licensure, etc.
  • Physical Requirements: NA
  • Other Requirements: Requires some evening and weekend work.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree in Education, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or related clinical area. Administrative support experience in higher education. Experience in counseling, clinical psychology, special education, social work and/or providing services addressing victims of crime, violence or abuse. Experience implementing advocacy and prevention services., case management services in a higher education setting, developing training. Experience writing or coordinating grants.

SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

May supervise student workers and graduate assistants.
