Summary:

The leave benefits analysts position assists with the administration of all leave and disability benefits.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Administer leave and disability programs.

* Responds to leave and disability inquiries from managers and employees.

* Works with carrier representatives in processing all leave requests.

* Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA as they relate to leave of absence.

* Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.

* Works with payroll administration to ensure employees paid appropriately while out on leave.

* Establish supportive relationships with occupational health clinics and 3rd party administrators.

* Implements program goals and policies that have been established by the business.

* Maintain compliance reporting calendars.

* Work in coordination with Human Resources and Safety in matters concerning occupational health requirements, leave administration, return to work, ADA compliance, and DOT requirements.

* Accurately record and report required testing.

* Maintain the privacy of the employee and the confidentiality of the medical information received.

* Accurately assess the need and initiate appropriate required diagnostic testing.

* Ability to research and review regulatory information and standards to determine appropriate actions.

* Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

Required Skills/Abilities:

* Knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Excellent organizational and time management skills.

* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

* High school diploma or GED and two to three years of experience in employee benefits administration.

* Bachelor's degree in human resources preferred.

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Lead Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 8+ years of relevant job related experience
Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
