About the Department and/or College
The new Academic Sciences Building will house teaching and laboratory space for five departments within the College of Arts & Sciences: the Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Geosciences, Physics & Astronomy and Psychological Sciences. The three-story, 125,000-square-foot structure will be located within the historic academic core of campus, adjacent to the current Chemistry and Science buildings.
Major/Essential Functions
The Facility Manager of the biosafety level two (BSL-2) and biosafety level three (BSL-3) laboratories in the Academic Sciences Building (ASB) is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facilities, including ensuring that laboratory personnel are following appropriate safety protocols. This position requires expertise in hazard identification, mitigation, risk assessment, and management. The manager serves as the primary point of contact for a Principal Investigator and provides material support information and instruction as necessary regarding access to and use of the equipment and other resources housed in the Facilities. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus three years supervisory experience; OR a combination of education and/or supervisory experience to equal seven years.
