Civil Engineer - Transportation

Job Summary: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer - Transportation for our Austin Office with at least 7-12 years' experience and will be a Registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. The successful candidate will have transportation project experience in roadway design, drainage studies/design, traffic control, permitting, utility relocations, right-of-way engineering, construction document preparation, and post design construction services. Experience with transit projects including track design desired. The candidate will work in a team environment on transportation, transit, and public works projects primarily in Seattle with opportunities to work on projects for other offices.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).

Duties/Responsibilities:

Serve as Civil Engineer in the development of roadway/transit feasibility and planning studies, geometric design schematics, construction plans, specifications and estimates
• Coordinate with EITs, designers and drafters
• Review shop drawings, perform field observations, and facilitate the construction administration
• Support project proposals, scopes, budgets, and manage execution and tracking of projects
• Complete projects within client specifications, budgets and schedules
• Assist in preparation of project reports including feasibility studies, implementation plans, engineering summary reports, and drainage impact analyses
• Coordinate online meetings, preparation of meeting agendas, and distribution of meeting

Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering
• Must be a licensed PE in Texas
• Minimum of 7-12 years of transportation engineering design experience
• Proficient in MicroStation, Geopak, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
• Ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
• The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
