Job DescriptionThe Executive Director of the Physical Plant is responsible for the maintenance and service of college grounds, utilities, and facilities at the assigned campus or campuses in the college. This includes overall management responsibility for personnel assigned to maintenance, custodial, grounds, and subcontractors. The Executive Director will be assigned to a campus or campuses with an operational budget of more than $ 5,000,000 and will typically have at least 7 direct reports.

Essential Functions

  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
  • Manages the assigned campus construction projects and physical plant work force, which includes building maintenance, roads and grounds, utilities, and custodial services.
  • Trains and assists facilities group in preparation and is 1st level approver of all related budgets.
  • Manages estimates for maintenance, facility repairs, adaptations and Facilities projects.
  • Participates in Facilities Committee and submits all proposals for consideration and approval.
  • Assists with preparation and submission of all facilities reports to the THECB including space inventory and assigned campus Condition Index Report.
  • Responsible for management of service-impacting events including communication and 24/7 availability.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in an appropriate field from an accredited college or university with major course-work in areas related to assignment.
  • Seven to ten years' experience in plant maintenance and directing service type organizations associated with facilities for construction contractor operation.
  • Ability to plan, schedule, supervise, and coordinate the work of others; to handle public relations; to assist in estimating, planning, and allocating budget funds; to prepare and approve a variety of regular and special reports; and to deal effectively with professionals and other employees in a pleasant and effective manner.
  • This job description covers a position in which the percentage of time spent on the essential functions will vary based on the workload and will ultimately be determined by the supervisor.
