Summary
MMI Products, Inc. (MMI) is a subsidiary (or product group) of Oldcastle, the Americas operation of CRH plc a worldwide building products company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. From its headquarters in Houston, Texas, MMI oversees a group of three divisions that manufacture and distribute primarily steel-based products. MMI is seeking a multi-talented individual to lead the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for indirect material spend categories. The purchasing scope of this position covers a broad range of spend categories and basically includes everything procured for the company except direct materials and freight. Spend categories include things like utilities, real estate leases and purchases, telecommunications, office supplies & equipment, financial services and software, HR services and software, manufacturing supplies (MRO), facility management services, travel services, IT equipment/ services/ software, temporary labor, printed materials and mail services. This position requires an individual who likes a diversity of experiences, enjoys learning about new topics, and works well across a wide range of functions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned. Interact with various internal customers and functional subject matter experts to identify and jointly plan/execute sourcing improvement efforts Lead cross-functional sourcing teams through the strategic sourcing process Perform spend analysis and consolidate internal demand for respective categories Conduct supply market analyses and monitor market trends Develop category-specific sourcing strategies in conjunction with internal customers Develop, issue, and analyze Requests for Information/Quotation/Proposal (RFI/RFQ/RFPs) Assist with or lead supplier negotiations and contract development Develop new supplier implementation and change management plans Collect metrics and develop reports on category spending and other performance indicators Ensures and monitors company compliance with contractual obligations, sourcing policies, and preferred supplier arrangements Participates on sourcing profit improvement initiatives with purchasing professionals from other divisions Knowledge and Skills Requirements: Desire a track record with developing strategic sourcing strategies and leading cross-functional teams though the strategic sourcing process Experience with developing supply agreements and managing supplier relationships Excellent organizational, communication, collaborative and interpersonal skills Demonstrate ability to effectively lead projects and manage change within an organization Negotiating skills Strong analytical skills Excellent internal and external customer focus Experienced in working effectively at plant and corporate levels in and across a functional environment Highly motivated and enthusiastic self-starter
Requirements
Education and/or Experience: B/S or B/A Degree 5-7 years experience in purchasing and/or project management roles *Prefer experience working in a manufacturing-based company
