We are currently seeking a talented Software Development & Testing Architect for our San Antonio, TX facility.


As a Software Development & Testing Architect fulfill the technical leadership role in providing technology solutions to meet business needs in the area of software development and testing technologies.


Job Duties:


  • IT experience in an IT Architect, Lead Architect or Lead Developer role.
  • Implements technology solutions at a detailed level by applying industry knowledge, best practices and architectural guidance to ensure system functionality and cost efficiencies.
  • Analyzes technology at a detailed level to recommend its effective use and fit within the USAA processing environment.
  • Serves as the lead troubleshooter to diagnose systems technology issues in development and operational environments. Provides leadership as Project Architect on relevant IT projects to ensure architectural compliance.
  • Defines, documents and communicates the USAA target architecture, standards and best practices for a specific technology or solution domain. Serves as a mentor to operational and development staffs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and coordination skills with both business and IT communities. Must be able to gain the trust and respect Sr. Executive Management in the business and technical communities. Proven track record of technical leadership in project development is required.


Minimum Requirements:


  • IT related college degree or equivalent experience.
  • 10 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience in software testing.


Preferred Requirements:


  • Extensive knowledge of software testing tools and methodologies, including industry trends and best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies across multiple platforms (e.g. mobile, voice response, J2EE, mainframe).
  • Knowledge of test data management best practices and tooling.
  • Proven ability to lead change effectively in large software development organizations with heterogeneous IT infrastructure.
