Position Description
The City of Mesquite Main Library has an excellent collection of genealogy materials. The collection includes microfilm census records for Texas and other areas of the U.S., journals from other genealogy societies, family histories, and material for tracing your family history.
The Main Library is seeking a part-time, Assistant Librarian who will work specifically in the Genealogy Department providing assistance to library patrons with local history and genealogical research. The Assistant Librarian will also provide information to patrons including reader's advisory, reference, curriculum support, collection development and programming. In addition, they will respond, resolve or direct questions from library patrons and provide highly responsible staff assistance to the librarian.
Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Major coursework in library science is preferred.
No experience required.
Must be available to work a flexible 10 hours per week schedule with some evenings and Saturdays as needed.
Must possess a valid Class C Texas driver's license.
