Job Description

This role will support the implementation and success of Bright Horizons's technology strategy by ensuring we are making strategic investments in the right areas. Leveraging business acumen, a deep understanding of Bright Horizons's business, and effectively partnering across different levels of the organization, this role will implement demand governance (capture firm priorities, define value, and frame tradeoffs needed to execute), increase capacity visibility, and drive complex major programs. This person will be a key advocate for delivering a world-class technology experience, demonstrate an appreciation for how the enterprise succeeds, and understand how information and technology contribute to that success. This role requires a self-starter able to independently identify value-add opportunities, take on challenges, and find solutions. This position will be dedicated to the Enterprise Data Warehouse and Enterprise BI & Analytics domain.

This is a hybrid role in our Newton, MA office.

What you will be doing:

*Major Program Management:

  • Support major programs, through overall governance and driving tactical execution of complex initiatives
  • Help facilitate standing forums to connect program managers with each other and leadership for visibility and guidance

*Portfolio Demand Management

  • Implement IT demand management model, to make our planning processes more agile and ensure our IT investments are persistently aligned with firm priorities
  • Serve as central intake point for IT demand, sourced from internal initiatives and business priorities, partnering with initiative owner to define value and impacts across technology teams (product and technical delivery)
  • Identify, recommend, and frame trade-off options to drive decisions required to deliver on our highest priorities, working with stakeholders and senior leadership

*Capacity Visibility

  • Provide visibility into resource capacity across the portfolio
  • Work across IT verticals to understand allocations, capacity, and resource gaps, in order to ensure we have the right people invested in the right areas
  • Establish the right leadership forums to weigh tradeoffs and drive decision among CIO & senior leadership
  • Other tasks as assigned

*General Portfolio Management:

  • Coordinating with cross discipline team members to create project plans and making sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and deliverables throughout the life of the project.
  • Chairing and facilitating meetings where appropriate and distributing decisions and next steps to all project team members.
  • Facilitating assessment and solutioning of project risks and issues.
  • Providing status as needed by gathering, analyzing and summarizing relevant information.
  • Establishing effective project communication plans with key stakeholders and ensuring their execution.
  • Facilitating change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
  • Coordinating the successful implementation and turnover of process or system to operational teams, including completion of tools like training materials, user manuals, etc.
  • Conducting post project evaluation and identifying areas for improvement in future projects and/or processes.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the PMO activities or initiatives within their projects or for the overall PMO, making continuous improvement a priority.
  • Perform Program Management duties as needed based on complexity of projects.

What we hope you bring to the role:

Education

Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technology, or related field

Preferred: Master's Degree

Experience

Required: 10 years of relevant experience

Additional Job Requirements

  • *Relies on experience and judgment to make recommendations on priorities, plan and accomplish goals.
  • *Able to make decisions on managing the project under minimal supervision, exercising good and independent judgment without hand holding.
  • *Acts as trusted Advisor to business and/or IT leads.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • *Proven experience in project management, managing complex projects within a portfolio.
  • *Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall).
  • *Ability to provide strategic guidance around creation and structure of projects within portfolio.
  • *Proven budget & resource management experience.
  • *Strong leadership, diplomatic and motivational skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple business and technology organizations.
  • *Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
  • *Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • *Limited travel may be required
  • *Competency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel.
  • Enterprise Data Warehouse and Enterprise BI & Analytics domain experience
  • Knowledge and exposure to PowerPoint and Outlook
