Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity on a project site in Red Bluff, TX for a Lead Geotechnical Field Engineer to join our geotechnical practice in Johnson City, TN where you can work from our Johnson City, Knoxville, TN office, Red Bluff, TX or remotely from your home-office. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving field work and support, coal combustion residuals, dams and levees, numerical analysis, geotechnical exploration, instrumentation and monitoring, and geohazards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Conducting geotechnical field investigations;
  • Monitoring heavy civil construction projects;
  • Dam and levee evaluations;
  • Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage;
  • Geotechnical site characterization;
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and
  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.
  • Fieldwork: Up to 90%
  • Overnight Travel: Up to 90%
  • Current fieldwork is based out of the Red Bluff, TX area.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 7 years (8+ years preferred) directly relevant experience in a consulting environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (e.g., slope stability). (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
